Mountain ReVerb - A unique mix of Tony Crank's "almost hallucinogenic (guitar) solos", Carl Hager's "hauntingly powerful vocal arrangements" and "Big John" Flanigan's unprecedented "uplifting blending ability" well describes this instrumentally rich, guitar and percussion centric Boulder Colorado live performance collaboration.
Tony Crank
Music has the power to transport us to another time and place. Tony Crank loves to harness that power with a broad audience of fellow music lovers and passionate musicians alike.
Ever since a young age, Tony has found great joy and satisfaction in making music and sharing it with fans and people all over the world. Tony as a guitarist is extremely talented in making the artist(s) sound their best with over 30 years of professional experience in live performances with hundreds of musical artists ranging from Country, Blues, Rock and Goth/Metal.
Tony captures his musical ventures that all started from deep in the Navajo Nation country like the Blue Mountains of Utah to the red earth of Monument Valley and huge crevasse’s of Grand Canyon lands. His unusual approach to guitar without playing a pick while using his classical training fingers to create multiple harmonies to music makes him stand out from the rest.
Carl Hager
Influenced by the immense talent of his brother Bradford, Carl Hager’s love for acoustic music matured as his understudy of acoustic folk ballads of the 70s. It was during those early learning years that he grew to appreciate the solo guitar/vocal performance genius of James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Paul Simon and so many others of the decade.
Over the last year, Carl has delivered over 50 live performances in the Boulder / Denver region. His rich vocal and resonant acoustic guitar performances cover a broad range of folk, rock, country and blues classics including songs by Bob Seger, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Van Morrison, the Eagles, Prince, Hank Williams Jr, the Beatles, Eric Clapton, Chris Stapleton, Amos Lee, the Band, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd and others.
"Big John" Flanigan
Heavily influenced by the soulful and percussive rhythms of Motown - specifically Richy Havens, Earth Wind and Fire, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes - "Big John" Flanigan has been playing drums since the age of 12.
John has a hugely rich history of band support that includes Jackson Brown, the Allman Brothers, Carl Dennison, Ziggy Marley, Big Head Todd, Vince Herman, Drew Emmitt, Derek Trucks, the Subdudes, the Los Lonely Boys, Motet, the Jeff Brinkman Band, String Cheese Incident, Left over Salmon, the Whalers and George Clinton.
But it was 15 years ago that John discovered a passion for hand percussion in the collective drum instruments of Djembe, Congos and Bongos. His unique style transformation and unprecedented "uplifting blending ability" now serves as the immensely valued and spiritual foundation for all of his live and studio performances. That "Salt and Pepper" percussion layering for live band performances has marked John as a hugely sought-after Colorado musician asset. His local collaborations include Catch and Release, Right-minded, Batiste/Young, the Remis Tucker Band, the Jeff Brink Band and Elk Tongue.
"Big John" continues to share his gift of music and takes immense pride in preserving the joy that music brings to all.
